Incumbent Democrat Josh Riley holds a strong position in New York's 19th congressional district heading into the November 2026 general election. Riley won the seat in 2024 by a narrow margin in one of the cycle's most expensive contests and benefits from incumbency advantages, established constituent services, and a district with a slight Democratic lean reflected in its partisan voting index. Republicans nominated state Senator Peter Oberacker after their June 23 primary, but the matchup has not produced major shifts in positioning. Prediction market pricing at roughly 89.5% for the Democratic nominee aligns with nonpartisan ratings classifying the race as lean or likely Democratic, driven by fundraising patterns, the limited number of competitive open seats, and historical re-election rates for sitting members in similar districts. Upcoming fall campaign developments and any late polling shifts remain key variables that could influence final outcomes.
