The Bank of Russia’s September hold at 14% after ten straight cuts has left December’s decision finely balanced, with no change and a 25-basis-point reduction trading within a point of each other. Persistent pro-inflationary risks from expansionary fiscal policy, labor shortages, and temporary supply disruptions in fuel and other sectors have prompted the central bank to revise its 2026 inflation forecast higher to 6–7% and signal a more gradual easing path. Traders price the near-term outlook as uncertain because incoming inflation readings, GDP data, and any shifts in budget parameters or external conditions could either reinforce the pause or allow another modest reduction before year-end.
