**Multiple NFL teams enter the 2026 season with established or emerging return specialists capable of generating substantial kickoff and punt return yardage, creating a wide-open market for the league leader.** Recent kickoff rule adjustments have boosted return volume and frequency league-wide, elevating the importance of explosive returners and special teams units while reducing the predictability of any single team's dominance. New England Patriots feature Marcus Jones, a proven high-value returner with strong efficiency metrics from prior seasons, while the New York Jets maintain competitive depth in their return game. Arizona Cardinals added Devin Duvernay to handle both punt and kick duties, and other squads such as the Buffalo Bills (Ray Davis), Houston Texans, and Denver Broncos (Marvin Mims Jr.) possess similar upside through proven or rising talent. Early in the schedule, factors like return opportunities (tied to opponent punting and kicking strategies), injury-driven roster shifts, and weekly special teams execution introduce significant variance. Trader consensus reflects this parity, with no team holding a decisive edge and the broad field remaining tightly contested heading into Week 1.
