Cruz Hewitt enters the ITF M25 Southaven match against Axel Nefve fresh off an ATP-level breakthrough, including a straight-sets upset of former top-40 player Marcos Giron in Washington that lifted him to a career-high ranking near 370. The 17-year-old Australian, who also reached the Wimbledon junior final earlier in 2026, brings recent main-draw experience and strong momentum into the lower-tier event. Nefve, a 25-year-old American ranked outside the top 900 with a background in U.S. college tennis, has competed primarily at ITF level without comparable recent results. Surface and draw positioning in the M25 could further favor Hewitt’s aggressive baseline game against the veteran’s experience.
