Recent U.S. inflation prints and shifting Federal Reserve rate expectations remain the dominant drivers of gold (XAU/USD) positioning ahead of the week of September 7. Spot prices have fluctuated near $4,430–$4,470 per ounce amid mixed labor data and comments from officials such as Governor Waller that trimmed September hike probabilities. Key catalysts include the August PPI release on September 10 and CPI on September 11, which will shape market-implied odds for the September 16–17 FOMC meeting and Treasury yields. A hotter-than-expected CPI would likely reinforce real-yield support for the dollar and pressure the non-yielding metal, while softer figures could ease tightening bets and support a rebound. Geopolitical risks and central-bank flows provide secondary support but remain secondary to U.S. macro data.
