Democratic incumbent James Walkinshaw holds a commanding position in Virginia’s 11th congressional district, a solidly Democratic seat with a partisan voting index around D+18 that has favored the party in recent cycles. Walkinshaw secured the nomination earlier in 2025 and benefits from substantial fundraising exceeding $1 million, while Republican nominee Arthur Purves advanced after the GOP primary was canceled and trails significantly in resources. The district’s Northern Virginia composition, including strong Democratic-leaning areas in Fairfax County, underpins the trader consensus reflected in current odds. A late-breaking scandal, serious health event affecting the incumbent, or an unprecedented national partisan shift would be required to alter the outcome before the November 3, 2026, general election.
