The open TX-21 seat, vacated by retiring incumbent Chip Roy’s bid for Texas attorney general, remains a solidly Republican district under the post-2025 map, with a partisan lean favoring the GOP by roughly 10 points and consistent double-digit Trump margins in recent cycles. Mark Teixeira secured the Republican nomination after the March 2026 primary with strong support from high-profile endorsements and leading fundraising, while Kristin Hook advanced on the Democratic side. General-election polling and ratings from outlets such as the Cook Political Report continue to classify the race as non-competitive, reflecting the district’s exurban and Hill Country composition plus historical Republican performance. No major late-cycle shifts in turnout, candidate events, or external factors have altered this positioning ahead of the November 2026 vote.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
