Recent Climate Prediction Center outlooks favor below-average precipitation for the Northeast in early September amid a developing El Niño, which typically suppresses rainfall through warmer, more stable atmospheric patterns. Historical Central Park data show a 4.31-inch climatological average with high variability driven by frontal passages and occasional tropical moisture. Ensemble models currently indicate moderate rainfall events rather than extremes, yet trader odds cluster tightly around 3–5 inches while assigning notable probability to >6 inches, reflecting uncertainty in late-month steering patterns and storm tracks. Updated monthly outlooks and any strengthening El Niño signals will likely refine these market-implied ranges.
