Roy Lichtenstein’s estate continues to drive strong auction results in 2026, with Sotheby’s reporting sell-through rates above 99 percent and average lot prices nearly doubling year-over-year across recent dispersals. Multiple works from the same collection have exceeded estimates in the past month, including paintings realizing $4.2 million to $5.5 million. “Green Head” heads to the block on October 7 in Sotheby’s Contemporary Curated sale, just days before the Whitney Museum’s major retrospective “Roy Lichtenstein: Like New” opens and heightens visibility. Traders are watching how sustained collector appetite for estate material and the timing of the museum show will shape the final hammer price.
