The return of the marine layer and strengthened onshore flow after San Francisco’s record-breaking heat wave (94°F on September 9) is the main driver pulling market-implied odds toward 70–73°F for September 11. National Weather Service guidance and multiple forecast models now project highs in the mid-60s to low 70s as cooler Pacific air replaces the suppressed high-pressure ridge, with breezy southwest winds limiting afternoon warming. Microclimate differences between the airport, downtown, and hills add modest uncertainty, but the overall pattern favors seasonal norms near 70–71°F. Traders are assigning roughly 60% combined probability to the 70–73°F bins while leaving room for slight model variations in marine-layer clearance timing.
