Michelle Dracoulis, the incumbent Derwent Valley mayor, holds the leading implied probability in the October 27, 2026 Tasmanian local government election as traders assess her re-election bid under the preferential voting system. Council actions during her term, including measures that returned the authority to a projected surplus and the appointment of a new CEO, have reinforced her position ahead of nominations opening September 7. A November 2025 no-confidence motion against her lapsed without broader councillor support. Limited public visibility or organized campaigns from challengers such as Jess Burns and James Randall, combined with the September 21 nomination deadline, has kept probabilities for most other candidates lower. The outcome remains subject to final candidate fields and voter preferences in the postal ballot.
