Darline Graham, appointed to fill the vacancy left by her late brother Lindsey Graham, advanced from the August 11 special Republican primary as the top finisher with roughly 33 percent against a crowded field and now faces Rep. Ralph Norman in the August 25 runoff. Norman secured second place with about 24 percent. Early voting for the runoff begins August 19. Graham has emphasized her family ties and outsider perspective to consolidate support, while Norman appeals to voters seeking an experienced congressional alternative. Vote consolidation from eliminated candidates, turnout patterns in the compressed three-week campaign, and any late endorsements will shape final shares in this low-turnout contest.
