Esteban "Steve" Guerra secured the Democratic nomination for Cameron County Judge in the May 2026 primary runoff by defeating incumbent Eddie Trevino Jr., capturing roughly 55% of the vote after advancing from the March primary. In heavily Democratic Cameron County, Texas, this victory positions Guerra as the frontrunner for the November general election against Republican Mauro Garza and other listed candidates. Trader consensus reflects the structural advantage of Democratic incumbency patterns in the county and Guerra's established local profile, including prior service on the Port of Brownsville board. While the implied probability favors Guerra strongly, shifts could occur from unusually high Republican turnout, late campaign developments, or unforeseen candidate withdrawals before Election Day.
