Gian van Veen enters this New Zealand Darts Masters opener as the clear favorite, backed by his status as 2025 European Champion, back-to-back PDC World Youth titleholder, and runner-up at the 2026 World Championship. His recent televised averages often exceed 100, with strong major-event consistency that outclasses Jonny Tata’s profile. The New Zealand qualifier brings home-crowd support and a notable debut whitewash win earlier in the series, yet his PDC-level results remain limited, with averages typically in the low 90s. Traders reflect this gap in the 73.5% implied probability for van Veen, citing the Dutchman’s superior finishing, scoring power, and head-to-head expectations on the international stage. No reported injuries alter the setup ahead of the August 14 match.
