Soon-Woo Kwon enters the US Open qualifying draw against Dusan Lajovic with stronger recent hard-court momentum after winning the 2026 Wuxi Open title and advancing through Wimbledon qualifying to reach the main draw, where he secured a first-round victory before falling to Tommy Paul. The 28-year-old South Korean, ranked around 152-157, holds a 2-0 head-to-head edge, including straight-sets wins on hard courts. Lajovic, a 36-year-old former top-25 player ranked near 146-152, has shown inconsistent results in 2026 with multiple three-set matches, a retirement in Washington qualifying, and an early exit in Cincinnati qualifying. Both players compete on outdoor hard courts in New York, where Kwon's serve-return balance and recent form contrast with Lajovic's age-related recovery demands and variable scheduling.
