Vilius Gaubas enters the US Open men's singles qualifying round two as the higher-ranked and seeded player against Marco Cecchinato on outdoor hard courts. Gaubas, currently around ATP No. 123, advanced from his first-round qualifier with a straight-sets win over Kilian Feldbausch and holds a stronger 2026 record overall, including multiple Challenger-level results. Cecchinato, ranked near No. 173 and a former top-20 player, also progressed by defeating Liam Broady but has shown limited hard-court success this season after focusing more on clay events. The matchup pits Gaubas's youth and recent consistency against Cecchinato's veteran experience in a best-of-three format where recent form and surface adaptation weigh heavily on trader consensus.
