Etcheverry, ranked around No. 32 and fresh off a dominant 6-3, 6-4, 6-0 win over Vit Kopriva in his US Open opener, seeks to build momentum on hard courts after three early exits in the North American swing. The Argentine has shown improved serving and fewer unforced errors in New York, leveraging his 6-foot-5 frame and experience in Grand Slams. Fearnley, currently around No. 100-101 and entering via lucky loser status after strong qualifying wins, brings recent hard-court results but faces a significant ranking and matchup gap on the fast surface at Flushing Meadows. No prior head-to-head exists, leaving serve efficiency, break-point conversion, and adaptation to conditions as primary variables in the second-round contest.
