James Duckworth enters this potential US Open second-round matchup with a higher ranking near No. 71 and stronger recent hard-court results, including a deep run to the Winston-Salem semifinals before a right-leg injury forced his retirement. The 34-year-old Australian brings veteran experience and solid serve-return metrics on outdoor hard courts, though the timing of his injury raises questions about recovery ahead of a best-of-five encounter. Yibing Wu, ranked around No. 113, arrives after a straight-sets first-round win over Adam Walton and has shown baseline consistency in limited 2026 main-draw play following earlier injury setbacks. Their lack of recent head-to-head history leaves stylistic matchup factors—Duckworth’s experience versus Wu’s power—open to trader assessment in the implied probabilities.
