Jan Choinski enters the Winston-Salem Open first-round matchup ranked No. 77 with a career-high near that mark after reaching the Wimbledon second round and winning the Braunschweig Challenger in July. The 30-year-old British player holds a clear experience edge on the ATP Tour despite a mixed hard-court run that includes an early Cincinnati exit. Mees Rottgering, a 19-year-old Dutch left-hander ranked No. 418, arrives via strong qualifying wins (6-1, 6-0 and 6-4, 6-1) but carries a 0-3 ATP record and limited main-draw exposure. The hard-court surface and ranking gap shape trader consensus toward the higher-ranked player, though Rottgering’s recent form and youth introduce modest uncertainty in what is likely their first meeting.
