**Alaska’s Ballot Measure 2, which would repeal the top-four open primary and ranked-choice voting system adopted in 2020, qualified for the November 3, 2026 general election ballot after supporters gathered sufficient signatures.** A nearly identical repeal initiative failed narrowly in 2024 (50.1% No to 49.9% Yes, a margin of 737 votes), marking the closest ballot measure outcome in state history. Recent surveys have shown continued voter familiarity with and preference for the current system, including high marks for simplicity. Public hearings on the 2026 measure were held in July and August, while external funding—including a reported $1.5 million contribution—has supported the repeal campaign. With the vote roughly ten weeks away, trader consensus reflects the prior narrow defeat and polling signals favoring retention.
