Fremantle Dockers host Hawthorn Hawks in a qualifying final at Optus Stadium, where the minor premiers remain unbeaten in 12 home games this season and finished atop the ladder. The matchup carries extra weight after Fremantle’s late “Wharfie Time” comeback victory over the Hawks in round nine, a result driven by strong clearance work and forward pressure. Hawthorn enters with balanced scoring and defensive structure, having secured its first top-four finish since 2018 and showing strong recent form on the road. Key defender Brennan Cox’s calf injury removes Fremantle’s primary matchup for veteran forward Jack Gunston, tightening the contest and supporting the even implied probabilities. Recent results for both sides highlight momentum swings, with Fremantle’s home crowd and finals experience offset by Hawthorn’s double-chance security and preparation for a hostile environment.
