Julia Avdeeva enters the US Open women's singles qualifying round as the slightly higher-ranked player around No. 192, with a strong 2026 win-loss record of 25-13 or better and recent hard-court activity. Katherine Sebov, ranked in the 215-248 range, brings momentum from her first-round victory at the 2026 National Bank Open in Toronto on hard courts, where she became the first Canadian to advance that far in the event before falling to a top opponent. With no prior head-to-head meetings, the first-round qualifier on outdoor hard courts highlights comparable experience levels, recent form on the surface, and the inherent variability of early Grand Slam qualifying draws where ranking edges can shift quickly based on serving efficiency and return play.
