Aleksandar Vukic enters the Montreal hard-court opener against Daniel Altmaier holding a 2-1 head-to-head edge, with straight-set wins in both prior hard-court meetings, most recently in Tokyo 2025. Vukic, ranked near 101-105 and making his main-draw debut at the ATP Masters 1000, arrives with recent momentum after a win over Tomas Barrios Vera and an earlier upset of Stefanos Tsitsipas. Altmaier, currently ranked 60-62 with a 12-21 record in 2026, has shown inconsistent form, including a recent loss in Kitzbühel and a first-round exit in Stuttgart. The outdoor hard surface and Vukic’s direct experience on it represent the primary factors shaping the current market assessment. No confirmed injuries or withdrawals affect the matchup.
