Tommy Paul enters the Cincinnati Open round of 32 as the clear favorite against rising Paraguayan Adolfo Daniel Vallejo on outdoor hard courts, reflecting trader consensus around his superior ATP ranking near the top 25 and proven hard-court results. Paul arrives after a strong 2026 season that included a clay-court title in Houston—where he also defeated Vallejo—and recent wins over Hubert Hurkacz in Cincinnati plus solid performances in Montreal and Washington. Vallejo, ranked around No. 65–70 with a career-high of 63 achieved in July, has posted an improved 17-13 record and notched notable upsets, including a Masters 1000 win over Grigor Dimitrov in Madrid, but lacks comparable experience at this level or surface. Their prior meeting favors Paul, while the hard-court conditions and Paul's serve-return consistency further widen the implied probability gap. Late-round fatigue or any physical setbacks remain the primary variables that could shift sentiment.
