This market will resolve to "Yes" if the Art Basel and UBS Global Art Market Report covering 2026 ranks China as #2 in total art market sales. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". For the purposes of this market, total art market sales refers to both dealer and auction segments. If China is tied with another country for second greatest total art market sales, this market will resolve to "Yes". This market will resolve according to the annual Art Basel and UBS Global Art Market Report covering the 2026 calendar year. If no such report is released by March 31, 2027, 11:59PM ET, this market will resolve to "No".**Recent Art Basel and UBS Global Art Market Report data for 2025 underscore the trader consensus against China claiming the #2 spot in 2026.** The US held 44% share ($26 billion), the UK maintained a stable 18% ($10.5 billion) with modest 2% growth, and China remained third at 14% ($8.5 billion) after just over 1% expansion. Persistent headwinds—including China’s real estate downturn and subdued consumer confidence—have kept domestic auction gains modest while Hong Kong’s international segment contracted, widening the gap with the UK’s steadier dealer and auction performance. France’s rising 8% share adds further competition but does not alter the top-three dynamic. With 2026 still unfolding amid ongoing economic volatility and no major policy or market catalysts yet signaling a reversal, traders see little realistic path for China to overtake the UK by year-end.
