Camilo Ugo Carabelli enters the ATP Challenger Cancun Country Open first-round matchup against Nicolas Mejia as the clear favorite, holding the No. 76 ranking and fifth seed while Mejia sits at No. 122 after reaching a career high earlier in August 2026. The Argentine brings greater experience on the hard-court Challenger circuit and a stronger overall record against similarly ranked opponents. Mejia, a Colombian right-hander, arrives with positive momentum from recent qualifying successes and an improved 2026 win rate, but faces a sizable ranking gap on an outdoor hard surface that typically rewards consistent baseline play and serve reliability. No major injury concerns have surfaced for either player ahead of the Tuesday encounter, keeping focus on form and head-to-head history in this early-tournament test.
