The upcoming September 2026 Swedish regional election drives the tight contest for Region Skåne board chair, with current probabilities reflecting uncertainty over coalition outcomes in a proportional system. Incumbent Carl Johan Sonesson of the Moderates holds the position alongside Liberal Lisa Flinth as first vice chair and Social Democrat Henrik Fritzon as second vice chair, but post-election negotiations among parties will determine the next leader. Candidate lists from Moderates, Social Democrats, Liberals, Sweden Democrats, and smaller parties highlight competition on core regional issues such as healthcare access and public transport. No decisive polling shift or major development has emerged in recent weeks to favor one contender, leaving room for late swings in voter turnout or alliance talks to separate the field.
