This market will resolve according to the total number of valid votes cast in the first round of the 2026 midterm election for Senator from Mississippi. If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, then this market will resolve to the higher range bracket. If the results of the specified election are not definitively known by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to the lowest range bracket. All votes certified for candidates or non-candidate options in the specified election are included. Invalidated or blank votes are not included. In ranked-choice or preferential systems, the first-round vote total will be used. The primary resolution source for this market will be the official results of the first round of the 2026 midterm election for Senator from Mississippi, as published by the state electoral authority responsible for certifying the results of the election; however, an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting may also be used.**Trader consensus centers on 700K–800K total ballots in Mississippi’s November 3, 2026 general election as the most probable range (39% probability), followed by 800K–900K (16.5%).** This positioning reflects Mississippi’s historically low midterm participation rates combined with the current competitive dynamics of the Hyde-Smith vs. Colom contest. As a non-presidential year, the race follows patterns seen in 2022 (32.5% turnout of eligible voters) and the 2023 gubernatorial contest (~821,000 ballots). Analysts note the state consistently ranks near the bottom nationally in voter participation, with midterms typically producing 600K–900K ballots versus the 1M+ recorded in high-turnout presidential cycles like 2020. Recent polling showing the race within single digits—Hyde-Smith leading Colom 44–38% in a three-way field as of mid-August—has heightened attention on mobilization efforts, particularly among Black voters who comprise nearly one-third of the electorate and have driven Democratic primary surges earlier in 2026. This could push totals toward the upper end of the 700K–900K band without reaching presidential-year levels. Structural factors such as the absence of a presidential contest, limited national salience, and Mississippi’s baseline participation rates continue to anchor expectations below 1 million while making sub-600K outcomes less likely absent unusually weak engagement.
