Multiple J1 League sides enter the extended 2026-27 campaign with comparable defensive foundations after the switch to an autumn-spring schedule and early-season results showing balanced scoring. Machida Zelvia’s strong start, limited goals conceded, and attacking output keep it in the mix alongside FC Tokyo, while Kashima Antlers, Kashiwa Reysol, and others maintain competitive records through organized backlines and reliable goalkeeping. With roughly 30-plus matches remaining plus a winter break, squad depth, fixture congestion, and minor roster adjustments can shift clean-sheet totals quickly. The narrow spread across more than twenty teams reflects this parity and the absence of a standout defensive frontrunner after the opening weeks.
