Liverpool’s reluctance to sell Cody Gakpo despite interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City underpins the tight trader consensus around a stay at Anfield. The Netherlands forward, contracted until 2030 after extending last summer, opened the new Premier League campaign with a goal in the draw at Newcastle, reinforcing his value in a squad chasing reinforcements like Bradley Barcola before any exit. Tottenham have pursued him repeatedly this window with reported personal terms in place, while City’s late contact with his representatives—linked to outgoing attackers such as Savinho—adds a rival Premier League option without club-to-club talks yet. Liverpool’s stance that two wide forwards must arrive first before considering a sale keeps the outcome fluid heading into the final days of the transfer window, sustaining competitive pricing across the leading destinations.
