Djokovic enters as the clear favorite against Navone in this US Open first-round hard-court matchup, reflecting the significant gap in ranking (No. 5 vs. No. 49), Grand Slam experience, and surface results. The Serbian holds a dominant hard-court record and strong historical edge against Argentine players, while Navone, a clay-court specialist with one ATP title, has posted poor recent hard-court form marked by multiple early exits. With no prior head-to-head, the contest highlights Djokovic’s superior serve, return consistency, and big-match pedigree at Flushing Meadows against Navone’s limited top-level results on the surface. Both arrive after recent losses, but the veteran’s schedule management and physical resilience position him strongly in best-of-five format.
