Paris Saint-Germain enter the 2026-27 Ligue 1 campaign as heavy favorites for a sixth straight title after winning the prior five and securing back-to-back Champions League crowns, backed by elite depth and Luis Enrique’s extended contract through 2030. Their early results have been uncharacteristically mixed, including a loss to Monaco, yet their squad quality and European rotation strategy position them as near-certain top-four finishers. Behind them, the race for the remaining Champions League spots features Lens, who finished second last season with 70 points, alongside Lille, Lyon, Monaco, and Marseille. Monaco’s perfect start and Lyon’s strong opening fixtures highlight early momentum shifts, while pre-season models from Opta projected Lens and Lille as the strongest challengers for second through fourth. Schedule congestion, injuries, and mid-season form will shape whether traditional contenders maintain consistency over the 34-match campaign.
