The 2026 Liga FPD title race remains tightly contested early in the Apertura campaign, as no club has established clear separation after the opening fixtures. Saprissa sits atop the table with a perfect record, yet Alajuelense, Cartaginés, and Escorpiones de Belén follow closely on points, while mid-table sides like Herediano and San Carlos show capacity to close gaps quickly. Traditional powers including Alajuelense and Herediano—fresh off the prior Clausura crown—retain strong squad depth and historical title pedigree, but inconsistent early results and a balanced fixture list have kept implied probabilities clustered near 50% across the field. This parity underscores the league's depth and the potential for momentum shifts through transfers, injuries, or head-to-head results in the coming months.
