Francesco Passaro and Felix Gill, ranked near 219 and 218 respectively, meet in the US Open ATP qualifying draw on outdoor hard courts. Passaro, an Italian with a career-high ranking of 89, enters after a mixed 2026 clay-court campaign featuring multiple Challenger appearances and some early exits, including retirements earlier in the year. Gill, a British player, arrives with stronger recent momentum on grass, reaching the round of 16 at several UK Challengers and securing a Wimbledon main-draw appearance. Both competitors face the challenge of transitioning surfaces for the hard-court event, where recent form, physical freshness after summer schedules, and adaptation to faster conditions will likely shape the outcome in this closely matched encounter.
