Flavio Cobolli enters the National Bank Open second-round matchup as the heavy favorite, holding an ATP ranking near No. 8-9 and a 27-16 record in 2026 after securing multiple titles and deep runs on hard courts. The Italian has elevated his baseline aggression and serve effectiveness beyond his clay-court roots, building momentum into this Masters 1000 event where he received a first-round bye. Yannick Hanfmann, ranked around No. 57 at age 34, faces his first career meeting against Cobolli and lacks comparable recent results or surface consistency on outdoor hard courts. Trader consensus reflects this ranking and form gap, though Hanfmann retains upset potential if his first serve remains reliable in what projects as a straightforward test for the higher-ranked player.
