Trader consensus against Apple purchasing CXMT DRAM in 2026 stems primarily from U.S. regulatory and political barriers plus CXMT's constrained capacity. The Chinese firm remains on the Pentagon's 1260H military company list, prompting Apple's reported lobbying of the Trump administration for assurances amid AI-driven memory shortages that forced product price hikes. While Apple has tested CXMT chips for China-market devices and CXMT is not formally banned from commercial sales, congressional opposition, reputational risks, and technology-transfer rules limit prospects. CXMT's output is largely committed to domestic buyers like Huawei through 2027, with analysts noting insufficient spare wafers for meaningful Apple volumes even if clearance arrives. Key near-term catalysts include any White House exemption decision or confirmed long-term supply agreements.
