The race for last place in the UEFA Champions League league phase stays tightly contested among multiple sides, reflecting broad trader consensus on a level bottom of the 36-team table. Weaker entrants from smaller domestic leagues encounter tough early fixtures against deeper squads with superior squad rotation and European pedigree, amplifying variance in results. Recent domestic form, travel demands, and limited depth in key positions further heighten downside risk for these teams, while the new format's single-table structure rewards consistency over two-legged ties. Historical patterns from prior campaigns show such underdogs often post the fewest points, sustaining competitive implied probabilities until more matchweeks clarify standings.
