The 2026-27 Scottish Premiership campaign remains in its opening phase after just a handful of fixtures, with widespread squad turnover and new managerial setups across the bottom half creating parity among the 12 sides. Early results show Celtic and St Mirren pulling clear at the top while Kilmarnock sit winless and Falkirk struggle, yet the middle and lower groups—including Aberdeen, Dundee United, St Johnstone, Motherwell, Hibernian, Hearts, Rangers, and Dundee—remain tightly bunched on points and goal difference. Extensive summer recruitment, including multiple incoming players at Aberdeen, Falkirk, and Hearts plus deadline-day additions at Rangers and Celtic, has refreshed most squads without establishing clear hierarchies. This balance, combined with variable form and the absence of a dominant mid-table cluster, keeps the contest for exactly 10th place wide open according to current trader pricing.
