Jonny Clayton enters the New Zealand Darts Masters first-round matchup as the clear favorite against home player Haupai Puha, with traders pricing his win probability at 74 percent. Ranked world number five, the Welshman brings superior recent form from consistent performances across the 2026 PDC calendar, including quarter-final appearances at the World Championship and strong showings in the World Cup of Darts. His experience in World Series events, including a prior title, contrasts with Puha’s more limited PDC-level results despite the New Zealander’s tour card status and occasional upset potential, such as a 2022 victory over Clayton. The match dynamics favor Clayton’s higher scoring consistency and proven adaptability on the international stage, though the local crowd and travel factors could influence early momentum in the best-of-11 format.
