Taro Daniel enters the Quebec City Challenger matchup as the clear favorite at roughly 62-64% implied probability, reflecting his higher ranking near 183 and greater professional experience compared to the 21-year-old Canadian Duncan Chan, ranked around 606. Daniel arrives after a straight-sets win over Dusan Lajovic on the same hard courts the previous day, maintaining solid recent form on the surface. Chan, a TCU standout with recent ITA accolades and a career-high ranking achieved earlier in August, gained valuable exposure at the National Bank Open but lacks head-to-head history against Daniel. The outdoor hard-court conditions and potential home-crowd support for the local qualifier represent the primary variables that could narrow the gap in this early-round encounter.
