The new World Pickleball Rankings system debuting for the 2026–27 PPA season, a composite weighted across men’s doubles (50%), mixed doubles (35%), and singles (15%) from each player’s top 14 results, has created a tightly bunched field by rewarding consistent multi-discipline performance over any single format. Ben Johns remains the benchmark in doubles after recent titles and partnerships like the one with Gabriel Tardio, yet he trails leaders such as Christopher Haworth, Federico Staksrud, and Hunter Johnson in singles rankings, while contenders including Christian Alshon, Hayden Patriquin, JW Johnson, and Andrei Daescu post strong results across events. With the long season just underway and points still accumulating, no player has separated decisively, sustaining trader consensus around a wide group of viable candidates for year-end number one.
