Arthur Fery entered the Winston-Salem Open semifinal as the slight favorite over James Duckworth, reflecting his higher ranking (around No. 37 versus Duckworth’s No. 79), youth advantage at age 24, and stronger 2026 form after a career-best Wimbledon semifinal run. Fery also won their most recent hard-court meeting at the Cincinnati Masters in three sets and showed resilience by rallying from a set down in the quarterfinals against Aleksandar Kovacevic. Duckworth, a 34-year-old veteran, reached his first ATP semifinal of the year with four straight wins but faced fatigue from a late-night three-set quarterfinal victory and an imminent US Open first-round matchup. Both players competed on outdoor hard courts, where Fery’s recent momentum and head-to-head edge shaped trader consensus on the implied probabilities.
