The US Open 2026 men’s singles main draw opens August 30 at Flushing Meadows with Jannik Sinner’s withdrawal due to a right knee injury reshaping the field and elevating Alexander Zverev to the top seed. Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz returns after a four-month absence from a right wrist injury without recent match play, while Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, and Ben Shelton bring varying levels of hard-court form and experience. Qualifying continues through August 27 ahead of the draw ceremony, and round-of-16 matches are slated for September 6-7. Recent results, official injury reports, rest advantages, and hard-court patterns among top seeds and emerging players will shape advancement probabilities in an unusually open bracket.
