Marta Kostyuk enters the second round of the 2026 Cincinnati Open as a top-12 seed and world No. 11 with a strong 2026 record, while Sofia Kenin, a wild card, advanced from her first-round match against Eva Lys. Kostyuk holds a significant ranking and seeding edge on the hard courts, though Kenin leads their head-to-head 1-0 after a three-set victory in Dubai in February 2025 that included saving match points. Recent player form and the hard-court surface favor the higher-ranked Ukrainian, with the outcome likely hinging on serving consistency and break-point conversion in what shapes up as a competitive early-round encounter.
