The Kansas City Royals enter the series opener at Rogers Centre riding an eight-game win streak and 9-1 mark in their last 10 contests, fueled by improved offense averaging over six runs per game during the surge and contributions from players like Vinnie Pasquantino and Jac Caglianone. The Toronto Blue Jays, sitting two games back of the final AL Wild Card spot with 30 games remaining, host the matchup needing strong results during a key homestand. Seth Lugo takes the ball for Kansas City against Max Scherzer, though both starters have shown recent inconsistencies. Multiple injuries on each roster, including day-to-day concerns for Andrés Giménez and Caglianone, add uncertainty to lineups and bullpen depth. Trader consensus reflects a close contest with modest home favoritism for Toronto.
