Pablo Carreno Busta faces Adolfo Daniel Vallejo in the Winston-Salem Open round of 64 on outdoor hard courts, with both players ranked in the low 70s and no prior head-to-head. Carreno Busta's nine previous appearances at the event, including a 2016 title and multiple quarterfinal runs, stand out against Vallejo's limited main-draw hard-court record. Both arrive after mixed hard-court results in Cincinnati, where Vallejo reached the round of 32 with wins over Vacherot and Jacquet before falling to Tommy Paul, while Carreno Busta defeated Machac then lost to Rublev. The Spaniard's greater overall hard-court experience and familiarity with the venue shape trader consensus around a narrow edge for the veteran despite the near-even rankings.
