London City Lionesses enter the early 2026-27 WSL match at Chigwell Construction Stadium as clear favorites, driven by their transformative summer recruitment of stars including Alexia Putellas, Mary Earps, Kadidiatou Diani, and Mapi León under manager Eder Maestre. The visitors opened the campaign with a 2-1 win over Manchester United and hold a strong squad depth that has shifted trader consensus toward them despite West Ham’s home advantage. West Ham, managed by Rita Guarino after last season’s 10th-place finish, added Laia Codina and others but face resource constraints and a mixed recent head-to-head record that includes a prior 1-0 defeat to London City. With no reported injuries for either side and limited early-season form data, the matchup hinges on London City’s ability to integrate new talent quickly versus West Ham’s need for defensive organization at home.
