**Andrey Chepelev enters the Como Challenger qualifying draw as the clear favorite against Niccolo Ciavarella on clay.** The 28-year-old Russian left-hander, currently ranked around No. 374 with a career-high of 339, brings a strong 2026 clay record and recent form that includes multiple ITF titles and a solid 64-35 mark over the past year. Chepelev has posted consistent results at this level, converting return opportunities effectively and holding serve under pressure. Ciavarella, a 22-year-old Italian ranked near 970, holds a far weaker 2026 record (around 5-12) and has dropped most recent matches at M15 and M25 events. The pair has no prior head-to-head, but Chepelev’s superior ranking, experience on European clay, and stronger serve-return metrics give him the edge in this best-of-three qualifier. Recent developments show no reported injuries or withdrawals, so the matchup hinges on Chepelev’s ability to control rallies and break serve on the slower surface. Trader consensus reflects these gaps in form, ranking, and surface results.
