Hayato Matsuoka enters the Zhangjiagang Challenger first-round match as the clear favorite, holding a higher ranking near 255 and fresh momentum from capturing the Astana Challenger title with a strong hard-court run of 30-19 in 2026. The 21-year-old Japanese player has compiled a 31-21 overall record this season, demonstrating consistent form on the surface that suits both competitors. Enzo Aguiard, ranked around 513, brings a respectable 32-15 mark and recent ITF successes plus qualifying wins in the event, yet faces a notable step up against more experienced Challenger-level opposition. Their first meeting highlights Matsuoka’s edge in ranking, recent results, and depth, though Aguiard’s solid hard-court baseline game leaves room for competitive sets if he maintains recent rhythm.
