Rhyne Howard of the Atlanta Dream leads all WNBA players in steals per game at 2.4 through more than 30 contests, well ahead of teammate Jordin Canada at 2.0, which underpins the heavy trader consensus favoring her as the season-long leader. Howard's elevated defensive activity this year aligns with her expanded minutes and usage on a competitive Atlanta squad, creating a substantial margin that late-season games are unlikely to close. Canada remains the clearest alternative given her consistent perimeter pressure and historical steals titles, though her current pace trails significantly. Remaining contenders such as Chennedy Carter, Bridget Carleton, and Ariel Atkins sit further back in official per-game rankings, limiting their realistic paths to the top spot absent major shifts in playing time or team defensive schemes.

In the event of a tie for the highest steals per game average, this market will resolve in favor of the player who appeared in the greater number of games. If the tied players also played the same number of games, the market will resolve in favor of the player whose listed last name comes first alphabetically.
Qualification for inclusion in official WNBA leaderboards (such as minimum games or statistical thresholds) will be determined according to WNBA rules and applied exactly as reflected in the official leaderboard.
If the 2026 WNBA regular season is cancelled, postponed after October 8, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or if an official leader has not been declared within that timeframe, this market will resolve to "Other".
The resolution source will be the WNBA (https://stats.wnba.com/players/traditional/).
